Linux and windows are both different and also both of them are alike. But what the matter is that what you need! most of the people can choose Windows when they need the support of ASP.Net and MySQL and most of the people use Linux as it is cheaper to run, if you don't need to choose MySQL and ASP.net, I recommend to use Linux hosting.
