I think price and ease of use are both important, but automation can save a lot of time as a business grows. I’d look for software that handles invoicing, VAT, reporting, and bank reconciliation efficiently. Switching makes sense when your current system becomes difficult to manage, lacks useful features, or no longer supports your business needs.

For me, automation and ease of use are the biggest priorities. The best system should reduce repetitive tasks like invoicing, expense tracking and bank reconciliation while still giving a clear picture of cash flow. In 2026, MTD compatibility is another major factor when choosing whether to switch.

Great accounting software should do more than record transactions. It should provide clear insights, save time, improve cash-flow visibility, and support better decisions. When your software helps you understand the numbers and plan ahead, it becomes a real growth tool—not just a digital bookkeeping system.
