Is AI finally replacing traditional video editing

I’ve been testing a bunch of AI video tools this year and the gap between “AI-first” platforms and cl***ic timeline editors keeps shrinking. Some tools now handle transcript editing, auto-captions, generative extend, and short-form clipping surprisingly well, while others still feel like gimmicks.

Curious what the community is actually using day-to-day:

1. Which AI video editor has saved you the most time in real projects (and for what type of footage)?
2. Do you still prefer a full timeline tool like Premiere/Resolve with AI features, or have you switched to something more text- or prompt-based?
3. For social/short-form content, is CapCut (or similar) good enough, or do you still export to a pro editor for finishing?

AI is definitely making video editing faster, especially for captions, transcript-based edits and short-form clips. But I don’t think it is fully replacing traditional editors yet. For complex projects, timeline-based tools still offer much better control over pacing, audio, colour and effects. AI feels more like a powerful ***istant than a complete replacement.
