Difference between Virtual Private Server and Shared Hosting ?

Linux virtual private servers offer the same complement of operating systems and software components which one would expect from a dedicated server. VPS hosting is often considered a step up from shared hosting: when it's time start supporting heavy traffic and custom applications, many will make the switch to VPS hosting after encountering the limitations of the shared hosting infrastructure and in case of Shared hosting also has the appeal of a bargain for those who are hunting "unlimited" bandwidth and storage space - many providers will make "unlimited" claims, despite the fact that there will always be a practical limit.

VPS:virtual private server hosting is the next level of hosting above shard hosting. This type of hosting still puts your websites on the same server as many others, but in a different way.

Shared hosting: is the cheapest form of hosting online and the most popular. It’s used by over 90% of the websites ad blogs found on the internet.

Virtual Private Server or Cloud Server model suits small or medium businesses that are looking to optimize their IT infrastructure yet don’t want to incur the higher costs of fully dedicated server hosting.

Shared hosting is like living in an apartment where you share a common space with your neighbors. You cannot customize anything but you share maintenance cost and responsibility with your neighbors.

Sharing a server — and its resources – with other websites is what shared hosting entails. That includes bandwidth, storage, and everything else. VPS hosting creates a virtual environment that mimics a dedicated server (in which you have your own server and all of its resources), but within a shared hosting environment.
