No one knows what actually algorithm is followed by the search engines but as far as i have experienced that yahoo considers all links while google considers only the quality links.

SEO tool will run a search query in the Google and Yahoo search engines and then graphically compare the results. Users can compare the keyword position on each search engine’s results. A line is drawn between Google and Yahoo results for matching URLs. From these results you will notice how each search engine gives different page ranks for different pages by comparing their appearance order.

Hi Guys
I read all ur comments but in my knowledge there is no difference between google and yahoo searching technique. the only difference is that if u search a keyword in google and yahoo. The top most result in google will be in the 2 page in yahoo. This happens bcoz of the page rank, no of persons using that particular keyword in yahoo and google. The best this about yahoo is in its advance search as there is an option for country search where as in google there is no option. Rest its depends upon researcher which search engine he believes more. BUT BOTH OF THESE SEARCH ENGINES ARE GOOD.

I totally agree with you. I think this is the main difference between these two search system kings.

I agree, its only Google that have the knowledge on their algorithm and no one else. We don't know what are their bases and how they come up to a site's evaluation.

I am aware that the google algorithm indexes every website with a date or a simular value. If you copied some content from other websites google will find out with a check of the indexing date. Some infractions of this kind and google will kick your website out of there index - mostly for ever!

The biggest difference for me is that Google sees more importance in domainage than Yahoo does.

Nice reading these posts, in a way, i'm glad they have differences. It would suck if they all worked the same way, but that's what people seem to want.

It is difficult to predict mate but I'm pretty sure that there really aren't any documents available which thoroughly cover the major differences between the search engine's algorithmic logic. Although, of course, everything will change tomorrow. :)

Both are very good search engines, and have different algorithms which are very good at helping you locate informations. I prefer Google because of it's simplicity. When I'm doing a search, I prefer not to have to wait until all of the news stories come up. Google has it's nice simple into page with no extraneous stuff to get in my way. However, Yahoo does have the news items and personal interest items. It all really depends on how urgent my search is.

Yes, the above conversation is absolutely true. I think Google always occupies a spl position among all.

I my point of view, Yahoo believes On Page Optimization should be excellent whereas google looks backlink support or you can say site popularity, how your website is popular in terms of marketing.
Yahoo also support unique content on the website. Google too..

Yah its true...google shows date but yahoo doesn't. One more thing yahoo basically forces on good content, unique content whereas google believe in inbound links or you can say vote.
